Itinerary
Setting off from Glasgow, Edinburgh or Stirling, our first stop is Taste, Perthshire, here will feed our much loved 'Highland Coos', and grab a coffee to go from the local cafe on site.
Driving through the Cairngorm national park, it is just under 2 hours to the Commando monument, shadowed by Britain's tallest mountain Ben Nevis.
Only 30 mins away is the highlight of the day, Loch Ness, it is our aim to arrive no later than the 12:20pm. Fort Augustus is famous for the 'Neptune's Staircase', a series of locks raising and lowering boats through the Caledonian Canal. It also sits on the banks of Loch Ness, and there is the opportunity to take the 1:00pm cruise on Loch ness from £20.00 p/p. Our last attraction before leaving Fort Augustus is the charming iceberg glass studio, specialising in hand blown and lamp worked glass.
Heading to Glencoe, we will drive through Fort William, known for its rugged climbs and nature walks. We will do some photo stops, including at the Three Sisters of Glencoe' and the 'Meeting of the 3 Waters'.
We will drive through Rannoch Moor, the largest bog expanse in the UK, and one of its most desolate places. Rannoch Moor was featured in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1, when the death eaters stopped the Hogwarts express to board the train, as well as many other movies and TV series, such as Trainspotting and Dark Mirror, to mention but a couple.
The beautiful village of Luss on the banks of Loch lomond is our last attraction of the day.
